HOURS

LancasterHistory is open to the public Mondays - Saturdays from 9:30am until 5pm. Tours of Wheatland are offered those days beginning at 10am and run on the hour until 3pm, the last tour of the day. Our Research Center is open Wednesdays - Saturdays from 9:30am until 2pm.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE NOVEMBER 17 - 22 | President James Buchanan's Wheatland will be closed to the public from Sunday, November 17 through Friday, November 22. We reopen for Yuletide at Wheatland tours on Saturday, November 23.

ABOUT WHEATLAND

Visit Wheatland, the beloved home of 15th U.S. President James Buchanan, where period furnishings and personal artifacts tell the story of Buchanan, the president who struggled to calm a divided nation on the brink of civil war. Visitors will tour the 1828 mansion with knowledgeable guides, making it the perfect experience for history buffs and presidential history and home enthusiasts.

Come back to visit Wheatland from mid-November through December to experience Yuletide at Wheatland, an annual, holiday-themed program at President James Buchanan’s Wheatland. Enjoy festive décor and learn about how the holidays were celebrated in Buchanan’s time in this one-hour, history and holiday-infused tour.

GROUP TOURS

LancasterHistory offers customized tours for organized adult and student groups of 15 or more individuals.
