1774: Stories from the Archives

Event Details

Dec 07 - Dec 08

The Manheim Historical Society is unlocking its hidden archives to tell histories as it shares artifacts from the winter of 1774. Visit the H.B.S. Heritage Center at 88 South Grant St. in Manheim to learn about the 250-year-old Pre-Revolutionary Act and Seal from the Province of Pennsylvania, which pardoned "Baron" Henry William Stiegel from Philadelphia's Debtor Prison on Christmas Eve. Many additional antiquities are on display. Also, visit the Colonial Houses - Fasig & Keath Houses - at 30-32 East High St., Manheim, to hear the whispers of Independence during that same winter. Docents will guide you through the different artifacts in both houses. There are strong rumors that der Belsnickel will pay a visit to the houses. Visiting hours for both sites are Saturday, December 7th from 1 to 4 p.m. and Sunday, December 8th, 12:30-4:30 p.m. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be provided.
