In 1824, American Revolutionary War hero the Marquis de Lafayette visited the United States of America for a Grand Tour of all 24 states. Join public historian Elizabeth M. Reese in a lecture following Lafayette’s tour, highlighting the important people, events, and legacy of America’s favorite fighting Frenchman.
Elizabeth M. Reese is a historian in the Washington, DC area, and has spent over a decade as an interpreter at historic sites on the East Coast. Her work has also appeared in TIME, the New York Times, and C-SPAN. She is currently the Senior Manager of Public Programs & Interpretation at Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House in Alexandria, Virginia.
This presentation is part of our Lafayette Lecture Series.
This presentation will be held on the first floor of the Rock Ford Barn. Due to rental event turnover, this area will open to guests at 1:45 PM. Your ticket includes admission to the Snyder Gallery and our 2025 Focus Exhibit “1825: Lafayette in Lancaster.” The Snyder Gallery is located on the second floor of the Rock Ford Barn. The Gallery closes promptly at 4 PM.
