Pine Creek Spirits Presents: An Evening with Nationally Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Laurelyn Dossett

Event Details

Nov 01

A free benefit concert is planned at Pine Creek Spirits in Elizabethtown

on Friday, November 1st beginning at 6:30pm. Food and drinks are available for purchase and Pine Creek is generously donating a percentage of the proceeds to help the NC flood victims.

Laurelyn Dossett, a Central Pennsylvania native, now lives and writes in Stokes County, NC, just east of the devastating flooding in western North Carolina. Her songs have appeared in film and television (Hell on Wheels, Ain't In it for My Health) and have been recorded by numerous artists, including Grammy-winning Levon Helm (Anna Lee) and Rhiannon Giddens of the Carolina Chocolate Drops (Leaving Eden). She is a founding member of the roots/americana band Polecat Creek with Kari Sickenberger and has written the songs for seven folk plays, staged at Triad Stage and Playmaker's Repertory. The Gathering: A Winter's Tale in Six Songs was commissioned by the North Carolina Symphony. In 2023, Laurelyn was featured in a 7-part series on PBS entitled My Music with Rhiannon Giddens. As part of her east coast tour, Laurelyn is performing a free Central PA concert in partnership with Pine Creek Spirits. Hurricane Helene recently destroyed the lives of so many in western North Carolina, decimating towns; crushing the vibrant creative community that was the heart and soul of the region. Dossett’s close personal and professional ties to the area make her acutely aware of how much help is needed. “The complete devastation of this cultural center breaks my heart,” laments Dossett. “I am asking my old friends in Pennsylvania who gave me my roots, to help my friends in North Carolina who gave me my wings.” Open to the public and free of charge. Donations accepted.
